“No! No! I love her! I’m the one who loves her the most in the entire world!” Kyson’s eyes welled up with tears as he repeatedly roared his declaration.
Sonny’s face remained filled with contempt.

Tossing the tissue aside, he glanced at the man beside him.
“Go on and ‘take good care’ of him.”
With that command, Kyson turned around and walked away. The beating resumed immediately and one could hear the horrifying crack of the whip as it tore through Sonny’s flesh.
Kyson strode out of the prison, not once did he look back.

The following day, as dawn broke, Lucinda was stirred from her sleep by the sound of a car engine roaring outside.
Still groggy, she rolled over to continue sleeping.
